IES Previews New Sustainable Design Analysis Product

Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES), a provider of integrated performance analysis software for sustainable building design, will preview its new architectural product VE-Gaia at AIA Expo 2009 in San Francisco, April 30 to May 2. VE-Gaia offers “step-by-step” smart navigation that defines different sustainable design analysis processes by weaving a workflow through IES’ Virtual Environment software. It allows users to undertake complex environmental performance analysis without the need for expert knowledge.
VE-Gaia will be released in June 2009, but visitors to IES’ booth at AIA (#1241) can witness a sneak preview of the product as well as regular demonstrations throughout the show. A step up from the IES VE-Toolkits, VE-Gaia offers the same ease of use and quick feedback capabilities, but also provides users the ability to input exact building data and manipulate models.
Dr. Don Mclean, founder and CEO of IES, commented, “I see VE-Gaia revolutionising the way that building simulation is performed. Design firms will be able to open up sustainable design analysis to a wider range of users as you need significantly less familiarity with the VE software. Users can easily mark progress, control quality and iterate workflows. Environmental analysis feedback is a key driver for sustainable design.”
Key navigator capabilities within VE-Gaia will include; climate, building and material metrics; availability of natural resources; water usage; renewable/low carbon technologies, as well as a range of LEED credit options.
