Issue

Revit loads the preview of all the recent files at startup. You want to know how to disable this page from loading.

Solution

There are two approaches you can take to disable the page:

Method 1
In Revit 2009 products:
  1. At the start up screen, go to the Window menu, and clear the Recent Files check mark.
In Revit 2010 products:
  1. At the start up screen, go to the View tab > Window panel.
  2. Select the User Interface pulldown and clear the Recent Files check box.
Method 2
  1. Close the Revit application.
  2. Locate the Revit.ini file in C:\Program Files\\Program.
  3. Open the Revit.ini in Notepad.
  4. Scroll down until you see

    [Misc]
    DisplayRecentFilesPage=1

    Change that value to 0.
  5. Save and close the file.
  6. Restart Revit.

In 2010 you can disable the recent file page from: Application>Menu>Options>Enable Recent Files Page
