Autodesk Tech Support - ADSKFLEX LICENSE FILE variable does not maintain it's value after rebooting

Published date: 2010-Mar-23
ID: TS14863822

Applies to:
AutoCAD® 2010
AutoCAD® Architecture 2010
AutoCAD® Civil 2010
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2010

Issue

You have 2 license servers: Server-1 & Server-2. You are using the ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE environment variable to point either to Server-1 or Server-2. If you set the ADSK_LICENSE_FILE to Server-1 and you reboot your computer, it will revert back to Server-2.

Solution

You will need to add the ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE environment variable and value in System variables not in User variables.

Windows 7 & Windows Vista

Start > Settings > Control Panel > System and Maintenance > System > Advanced System Settings > Advanced > Environment Varialbles

Windows XP

Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment Variables
