I just became an architect. No AREs either!

I was just made aware of this term. I submit that my blog, what I'm doing for the benefit of design build, changing the industry for the better, sustainable technology used for buildings, all qualifies me to be a Citizen Architect.

The Citizen Architect:

•uses her/his insights, talents, training and experience to contribute meaningfully, beyond self, to the improvement of the community and human condition.
•stays informed on local, state and federal issues, and makes time for service to the community.
•advocates for higher living standards, the creation of a sustainable environment, quality of life, and the greater good.
•seeks to advocate for the broader purposes of architecture through civic activism, writing and publishing, by gaining appointment to boards and commissions, and through elective office at all levels of government.

A friend of mine made me aware of the phrase today.  I also learned how territorial architects are about who can be called an architect. It doesn't say anything in the dictionary about passing all of those exams, just that you design buildings and advise in their construction.  Does that mean that anyone using AutoCAD isn't a designer, because they're drafting?  I'm not going to even touch the "advise in their construction part".

OK.  You can all have fun hyperventilating over this post.
