YouTube - 2010 Shanghai World Expo, construction timelapse of Broad Pavilion - More Great #BIM

Here's another one of those projects that was erected in a day. Again, this is astounding at what a prefabricated and coordinated project can be. This takes a lot of thought and organization. Look closely at the video. See how all of the materials for each part of the building are already stacked on the slab.

What will it take to get the entire AEC team to do this on a project here? Yes, there are prefabricated homes that are already doing this, but not at this scale. Any thoughts?

We certainly aren't there yet, but the industry's thought leaders are making strides. NBBJ and Skansa worked together with the trade subcontractors on the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton Ohio to make some major strides in off-site fabrication.

They prefabbed the MEP Systems racks for the corridors and the devising walls in the patient rooms (made up of a casework unit, toilet room mod and a prefabbed headwall unit.)

As more and more projects realize the benefits of offsite fabrication, it will become norm.
