I got this from one of my clients. When you submit an error report, it actually knows the version and build. I wonder how many errors and crashes could be avoided by updating to the latest service packs. Don't forget to always visit www.revit247.com for the links and new versions of all things Revit. So, please make sure you're running the latest release.
You know how AutoCAD has a new dwg format every 3 years, 2000 2004, 2007 and 2010. I've had clients that say they will only update their software in the following release as they considered the file type change years as the beta version. I've had others say they update every even or odd year. Crazy stuff, but remember your software is all coded by human beings.
