New in Revit 2012 Administration



Learn new information related to the administration of Autodesk Revit 2012.
As a Revit administrator, you should be aware of the following changes.
Roaming Profiles
Revit now supports roaming profiles.
Installed Files Location
In this release, the following files are installed to ...\Programs\UserDataCache. On the first launch of Revit, these template files are copied into the user's data roaming folder as follows:
  • Revit.ini
  • OmniClassTaxonomy.txt
  • UniformatClassifications.txt
  • shxfontmap.txt
Vista and Windows 7: ...\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\
XP: ...\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Autodesk\Revit\
The UIState.dat file and KeyboardShortcuts.xml are created in the same directories as well.
Journal files are created to the following directories:
Vista and Windows 7: ...\Users\\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\\Journals
XP: ...\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\Revit\\Journals
Install Options
The Revit Installer now provides options for Adding and Removing Features, Reinstalling or Repairing Revit, or Uninstalling Revit.
