Verify your driver is recommended or certified graphics hardware


You were working in a Autodesk Revit 2012 product and the product crashed with an error message. You received a Customer Error Report dialog following the crash. The most common message is:

A fatal error has occurred. The application will be terminated. You have the opportunity to save recovery files for all of your changed projects. Would you like to save a recovery file?

The error may be related to an unsupported or old graphics driver installed on the system.


The following actions may reduce the frequency of this error:

  • Go to the Find Graphics Hardware site and download/install the recommended or certified graphics driver for your card.
  • If the graphic card and driver is not listed, please go to the graphic card vendor site and update to the latest graphics driver that they provide.
  • If you cannot update the graphic card driver to a newer version, please try to turn off hardware acceleration in the Revit Options dialog > Graphics tab.

If the behavior still occur, please submit a Customer Error Report containing an e-mail address along with a description of the workflow leading up to the crash. For additional information on the error report process, please see the link below:
