Updated Project Neon cloud-based rendering service Now Available - Autodesk Labs

BIM -It is Alive in the Lab
Senior Product Manager, Mark Fritts, let me know that the team updated the Project Neon servers on Friday. Project Neon is a technology preview of a rendering service that offers greater productivity and a faster turnaround of photorealistic renderings by leveraging the power and compute capabilities of the internet. By harnessing the power of the cloud, you don't have to wait for long periods of time to generate single or multiple views of your designs. This latest update includes:
  • Environment map options: Swap out or assign a new background environment from a collection provided by Autodesk.
  • Texture filtering which provides rich detail on fabrics and other materials.
  • Larger model support.
  • More accurate UV mapping.
  • Sub-entity materials are now supported - for instance materials on individual faces of objects.
  • "2.5D" objects are now supported - for instance lines that have been given width.
  • Proxy objects are now supported - this is great news for users of the vertical flavors of AutoCAD. (Be sure to enable Proxy graphics before saving the DWG that you want to submit to Project Neon.)
  • Faster. Some large models translate in 20% of the time that they used to.
So please give the updated service a try and let us know what you think at labs.neon@autodesk.com. So far the feedback has been very helpful in guiding our efforts. Keep it up.

Looking forward is alive in the lab.
