Autodesk Cloud Software Products now available

How many of you pay attention to this stuff?  It's amazing that we have so much technology and the portability to go with it.  Anyone who thinks an iPad is just a big iPhone just doesn't get it.  Anyone who thinks their giving their employees iPads is a bad idea because it's expensive and just a big toy just doesn't get it.

Last Friday, we had a technology seminar for 60 general contractors and subs about "A Glimpse Into the Future" about all of these great technologies that are here now or coming very very soon.  I put on a seminar of technology for contractors on the iPad.  What a captive audience that was.  Two days later, one of the companies came to my office with 4 people to hire me to consult with them and get their field people fully mobile.  I can't tell you how happy I am now that my company is so diversified and on the cutting edge of technology and that we get to play with the tools you only read about or dream about.

The ability to share your models and plans over the internet and on an iPad is the most amazing use of technology for efficiency and collaboration.

It looks like you only have until September 27th to play with some of these toys, specifically Project Nitrous.

KEY FEATURES

  • 1 GB of online storage for FREE *
  • Easy file sharing
  • Access control to files
  • Shared folders for multi-party collaboration
  • Fast upload and download of files
  • Web-based viewing of 2D and 3D DWF files
  • A complete online workflow that includes web-based file sharing, viewing, editing, and commenting
Wow, if every Autodesk customer used 1 GB of free storage, that would be a lot of of space.  It's 8800 Terabytes.
1024 GB = 1 Terabyte in case you were curious.
You can buy a 2 TB hard drive for $80, so it's $40 per Terabyte.
Since there's a 2 TB limit right now, you'd need 4400 hard drives at $80, so your subscription dollars are going to the potentially expensive $352,000 bill to Autodesk from Amazon Cloud Services for all of your data needs.
