Watch the Design Review Mobile App Video Demo - Beyond the Paper ...and a special rant.

I've been showing this to everyone I meet. There's no doubt that the portability and power of having 3D models in the palm of your hand isn't about hatch patterns and line weights, but it's about showing real work.

One of the things I love about Revit and BIM is that you can't fake it. Either the walls, doors, ceilings and systems are there or they're not. No more telling the client you're at 50% DD when you're really in 100% Doo Doo. I call it WYSIBIM. What you see is what we build. In the video, they mention that it will "extend the design process". I'm calling BS on that. Uh, doesn't extending the design process mean it makes it take longer? Whatever.

What it really does it make the I in BIM portable. You have instant access to all of the design drawings and models NEEDED FOR CONSTRUCTION. This is a tool for contractors, not architects. You're stuck at your desk for months doing the design. It's only after it's done does it go to the field and have a need for portability. Sorry, don't mean to rant, but the contractors are now owning BIM and this is just another tool for them to really make even more efficient buildings.

If you think the iPad is a toy and you don't need it for business, you shouldn't be reading this. It's about technology and efficiency. It only has one button so almost anyone can use it.

The Design Review mobile app is being reviewed well! If you haven't tried or seen it yet, be sure to check out this video which demonstrates how you can use the cloud to simplify your tasks, especially in the field.

The demo also provides useful details about the related cloud services.

Be sure to send us your feedback on either Design Review Mobile or the Autodesk Cloud, using http://feedback.autodesk.com/cloudservices.
