I got numerous emails today from around the world about this little tidbit. With Autodesk's creation of a BIM mergers and acquisitions team which even includes a former Archicad reseller, there's going to be some major money changing hands as more companies get sucked into other software companies.
Vela has always been one of my favorite companies and they're the king of the iPad for construction market. Autodesk had previously invested millions into Vela and this only helps them get deeper into the BIM marketplace. Now if only any resellers actually knew anything about construction, there may actually be hope for them. there's still a major sales, training and support problem for Autodesk and their existing channel is mostly helpless to help you.
So, this announcement changes everything and changes nothing. Only you can make a difference with education, training, adoption and process changes. we have Vela on three iPads at my company and I'm looking forward to seeing where this all goes.
