We needed to order a new toilet for our house. Where does one even start to look for comparisons in toilets? What do you look for? Comfort? Elegance? Flushability? Our contractor recommended a Home Depot special, but I wanted something a little nicer.
While wandering through the Kohler website, I found a nice looking dual flush model. I'm sharing this with you because I was so impressed with the Kohler website from an informational point of view. How many times have you gone to a website to find a spec, dwg, rfa file or other information and had to go and look in several places to find what you needed.
Well, Kohler gets it right. Not only are there images, but the have specs, installation, pricing and everything else you would need all on one page. Anything that makes it easier for an architect to get the information they need for a project makes it more likely that one would use their products in the plans and specifications. Having Revit families helps a lot too.
Yesterday, we had a tile vendor come and do a lunch and learn. I asked them if they had Revit families. I got that "I have no idea what you are talking about" look with the word Revit, so I showed her some stuff, renderings with tile and told her how valuable Revit would be for them. How so many vendors and reps are still ignorant of our needs is beyond me, but I'm trying every day to educate them and hopefully, some day soon, we'll all get what we need, when we need it.
How about an iPad app too, so you can sit with a client and easily go through products and have a method to mark the items you like and download them or email the website links to make your job easier. Or just imagine you're sitting on the toilet, looking through the iPad app trying to find the perfect toilet. Now, that's multitasking.
