Do you mainly use Firefox or Chrome, but have to use Internet Explorer for some websites?
Do you have to use different versions of Revit but when you go to open a file, it defaults to the one you don't want? Yeah, me too. Oh, another one. How about when you want to open a PDF file in Acrobat, but it opens in Acrobat Reader.
I have this one website that only works with IE and I have a shortcut to it on my desktop. But, every time I go to open it, it opens in Chrome (my default browser of the week) and it's annoying.
So, here's the solution.
If you ever right click on a file in Windows, there's an option called "Send To".
It's most notable for Desktop (Create Shortcut), Documents, Mail Recipient and maybe a few others.
Here's the solution. Just open up the Send To folder and drag in program shortcuts. Then, when you right click and send to, you can have options like Revit 2013, Revit MEP 2012, Revit Architecture 2011 or whatever other program you want.
The problem is finding the darned folder.
Here's the location:
Just change the YourUserName part and paste this into a Windows Explorer or Run command and there you go. Here's a link for Windows 8 users to access the folder.
I hope that helps and makes your computing life more efficient.
